AWWA Standard C213 2015

This standard describes the material, application, and testing requirements for fusion-bonded epoxy coatings and linings for steel water pipe, special sections, welded joints, connections, and fittings for steel water pipelines installed underground or underwater. Fusion-bonded epoxy coatings are heat-activated, chemically cured systems. This standard provides the minimum requirements for product. Revisions to this edition of AWWA C213 include the following: The title has changed. References were updated. A new section on certification was added to include a requirement for NSF/ANSI 61 certification on products in contact with potable water. The section on shelf life was revised. A cathodic disbondment requirement was added to a table, and a section on cathodic disbondment testing was added. The section on on abrasive blast cleaning was updated. A section on thickness was added for epoxy application. The section on cure was revised. The sections on field procedures and verification were revised. Additional information on abrasion resistance was included. New sections on dielectric strength, volume resistivity, and quality assurance and records were added. The sections on nonconformance notification and packaging and shipping were revised.
